Autonomous Agents Are Deployed — and Already Being Weaponised
Autonomous SOC agents reached 90+ organisations in 2025 with write access to critical infrastructure. Chain-of-thought AI approaches are also showing capability to automate code deobfuscation, a workflow that currently requires days to months of manual work from security specialists.
Kimi K2.6 extended agent run times from minutes to days, which exposes a separate problem: enterprise orchestration infrastructure was not built for sustained autonomous execution cycles. Engineers are now required to rearchitect the systems they built.
Creative and Knowledge Work Roles Are Next
IQiyi, China's dominant streaming platform, has stated that AI will generate the majority of its films and shows within five years, and has launched the Nadou Pro toolkit to automate production across all stages. Adobe, NVIDIA, and WPP jointly deployed agentic AI to automate creative production and decision-making across enterprise marketing. AWS Marketing reduced specific content publishing workflows from hours to minutes using Amazon Bedrock.
Anthropic's Claude Design now generates polished prototypes and marketing collateral from conversational prompts, targeting workflows currently owned by junior designers. Google's Deep Research and Deep Research Max agents combine public web search with private enterprise data to automate analyst research end-to-end.
These are not pilot programmes. They are named products with named enterprise customers.
What This Means
- If your role is defined by what you produce rather than how you decide, the evidence points to near-term automation. Specialise toward system design, agent oversight, or security architecture — roles where the AI output requires human judgement to validate or redirect.
- Security professionals need a new threat model immediately. Prompt injection attacks on autonomous SOC agents with write access to firewalls are not theoretical — they have already occurred at scale. Organisations that deployed agents in 2025 without adversarial testing frameworks are operationally exposed now.
- Track tool adoption at the enterprise layer, not the demo layer.
