Google launched Gemini 3.5 Flash as its most capable coding and agentic model, explicitly designed to build software from scratch and execute complex workflows autonomously. Simultaneously, Ramp published case-study evidence that its engineers are using OpenAI's Codex with GPT-5.5 to compress code review cycles from hours to minutes — a function that has historically justified mid-level engineering headcount.
These are not proofs of concept. They are production deployments at named companies, affecting named workflows.
Google also claims Gemini 3.5 Flash can reduce enterprise AI costs by more than $1 billion annually. Lower marginal cost means broader deployment. Enterprises that previously could not justify AI tooling on cost grounds now can. The roles most exposed are those performing repeatable analysis, code review, and documentation — functions where output can be verified cheaply.
